Seattle, Washington is a vibrant city located in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. This city offers a breathtaking blend of natural beauty fused with urban charm, and truly holds a special place in my heart. Known for its Space Needle and thriving Pike Place Market, get ready to discover the city where innovation and natural splendor intertwine for an unforgettable getaway. The first time I came here was a surprise trip planned by my boyfriend, and it is absolutely a magical place. Prepare to fall in love with Seattle!
Pike Place Market
Pike Place Market is a vibrant and bustling market in the heart of Seattle. The lively atmosphere of this historic marketplace and the vibrant colors create an experience like no other. As you wander through the market's narrow alleys and crowded stalls, you'll be greeted by fresh produce, artisan crafts, flowers, and unique trinkets.

Not only are the restaurants and shops an interesting view, but the waterfront views around the market are also breathtaking. One of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen in my life was at Pike Place Market. It really is an unforgettable place to visit.

Pike Place Market is not just a shopping destination; it's a cultural landmark that has been a part of Seattle's identity for over a century. The historical significance alone makes visiting Pike Place Market an unforgettable and enriching experience for both locals and visitors alike.
The Original Starbucks

The original 1971 Starbucks is also located at Pike Place Market, and holds a special place in coffee history. This is a must-see for coffee enthusiasts, witnessing where the Starbucks empire began, and offers a genuine connection to the brand's humble beginnings. Visiting the original Starbucks is a unique journey back in time, but there is always a huge line here though, so we have only stopped and looked in from the outside.
Rachel the Piggy Bank

Rachel the piggy bank is a beloved iconic fixture located in the corner of Pike Place Market. She is a large, bronze piggy bank with a whimsical design, complete with a playful snout and a curly tail. Visitors are drawn to Rachel as they drop coins and bills into her collection slot, which go towards contributing to charitable causes. This cheerful and interactive piggy bank has become a symbol of community and generosity, captivating the hearts of all who encounter her at Pike Place Market, and is an iconic place for a family photo-op.
The Great Gum Wall of Seattle
(Pictured: Adding gum to the gum wall.)
The Great Gum Wall in Seattle is a unique and colorful landmark, adorned with thousands of chewed gum pieces. Located in Post Alley this is where visitors leave their wads of chewed-up gum, creating an ever-changing mosaic, making it a delightfully odd and fascinating attraction. I wouldn't recommend touching anything here, however, but it is fun to add your piece of gum to the wall.
The Seattle Great Wheel

The Seattle Great Wheel stands tall on the city's waterfront, offering breathtaking views of Puget Sound and the city skyline if you were interested in riding it. With enclosed gondolas, it provides a thrilling and comfortable experience year-round and is a popular attraction for both tourists and locals. I'm not a huge fan of ferris wheels myself, so it is also nice to admire from the pier!
The Space Needle

Visiting the Space Needle is an must-do experience that takes you up and above the city of Seattle for a remarkable view. The needle can be seen from many points in the city, but it really is a marvel close-up. The elevator ride to the observation deck is a thrilling ascent all in itself, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding cityscape, Mount Rainier, and the picturesque Puget Sound as you make your way to the top.
(Pictured: Views from the Space Needle.)
At the top, you're met with floor-to-ceiling windows that showcase the vast expanse below, allowing you to marvel at the bustling city streets and the majesty of the distant mountains all at once. The Space Needle's rotating glass floor adds an extra touch of excitement, giving you a unique perspective as you gently spin and look down at world below. There is also an open-air observation deck, providing unobstructed views and a thrilling experience. Overall, a visit to the Space Needle provides an unparalleled vantage point to appreciate the beauty and charm of Seattle from high above the clouds.
Chihuly Garden and Glass Museum

The Glass Museum in Seattle, known as the Chihuly Garden and Glass Museum, is a mesmerizing celebration of the renowned glass artist Dale Chihuly's work. Nestled right next to the iconic Space Needle, the museum showcases a stunning collection of vibrant and intricate glass sculptures that are also a must-see while in this beautiful city.
(Pro Tip: When we visited, they had a combined ticket offer for both the Space Needle and the Glass Museum. I would highly recommend going to both!)
As you explore the exhibits, you'll be captivated by a unique variety of colors, shapes, and light, creating a magical experience that showcases the beauty and artistry of glass in many different forms. The museum also features an outdoor garden, that is a breathtaking display of glass blooms and sculptures, set against the backdrop of the Space Needle. In my opinion, this is a must-visit destination for art enthusiasts and anyone seeking an extremely unique museum experience.

Kerry Park

Nighttime is the perfect opportunity to go get a view of the beautiful city skyline. The view of Seattle from Kerry Park at night is a breathtaking postcard come to life. Perched on a hilltop, the park offers a panoramic vista of the city's iconic skyline, with the Space Needle taking center stage. The sparkling waters of Elliott Bay and the majestic Mount Rainier in the distance complete this picture-perfect scene, and is an ideal place for a family photo. Who doesn't love a good view?
The Museum of Flight
(Pictured: Visiting the Museum of Flight.)
The Museum of Flight is an exceptional museum that takes you on an journey through aviation history. Located at Boeing Field, it houses an impressive collection of aircraft and aviation artifacts. Be warned, this is a stop you could spend all day at, if you really wanted to!
As you explore the massive exhibits, you'll be in awe of iconic planes, from early pioneers to modern marvels, each representing significant milestones in aviation. The museum also touches into space exploration, with exhibits on spacecraft and space-related technology as well. Interactive displays, flight simulators, and knowledgeable staff enhance the experience, making it an immersive and educational adventure for aviation enthusiasts and curious minds alike. This would be a really fun stop for kids if you have them with you.
Ferry to Bainbridge Island

A ferry ride to Bainbridge Island in Washington is a scenic and tranquil journey that embraces the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. As you drive onto the ferry from downtown Seattle, you leave the city's hustle behind and set sail across the glistening waters of Puget Sound. You can leave your car and explore the ferry during the trip. As the ferry glides along, you're treated to breathtaking views of the Seattle skyline, the majestic Olympic Mountains, and the serene waters below.
As the ferry approaches Bainbridge Island, you'll catch sight of charming waterfront homes, lush greenery, and the picturesque Bainbridge Harbor. Upon arrival, you can disembark and explore the island's quaint downtown area. If you were looking for more adventure, scenic hikes, parks, and beaches await, making Bainbridge Island a perfect day trip destination. We chose to simply drive around and take in the beautiful sights of this area during our time there.
Maple Valley
(Pictured: Maple Valley visit for the half Iron Man.)
Maple Valley, Washington, is a charming and picturesque city nestled amidst the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest about 40 minutes or so from Seattle. We came out here for a half Iron Man event, and I thought it was such a peaceful little town; surrounded by lush forests and rolling hills, it offers a tranquil and family-friendly community. If you are looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the city for an evening, head out to Maple Valley.
