Hidden away in Los Alamos, California is one of the most charming bed and breakfasts I have ever seen. At The Victorian Mansion, each room features a different unique theme. In addition to this, each room also showcases unique secret doors and Japanese soaking tubs. The suites are as follows: The Egyptian Suite, the French Suite, the 50's Suite, the Gypsy Suite, the Roman Suite, the Gypsy Suite, and the Pirate Suite.

The Vick is about an hour or two away from Santa Barbara, and is the perfect romantic weekend getaway for you and that special someone. Don't have a special someone? Not even a problem, I would have loved this stay alone as well! In the morning, you are served a fantastic breakfast that is delivered to you at your time of choosing through a secret door. I thought this was an especially nice touch.

During our stay, we chose the Egyptian Suite. I was absolutely blown away at the attention to detail. From the room key, to the selection of movies, everything stayed true to the suite's Egyptian theme. The wall tapestries and lighting created an ambiance that only further enhanced the theme. Even the windows of the suite gave an Egyptian vibe.

This is one of those hotel rooms you do not mind spending an entire afternoon in. It honestly made me feel like a child again, I wanted to open ALL the doors and flip all of the light switches. From the carpeted floors, to the ceiling tapestries, not a single detail was missed.

Our room also featured a lovely seating area and fireplace, which really helped add to the entire room's ambiance. It was so lovely to just sit and sip a glass of wine for the evening. There was also a DVD player and themed DVD's to watch (i.e. The Mummy, the Prince of Egypt, Scorpion King, etc.)

If you wanted to make the most out of your stay in Los Alamos, I would highly recommend making dinner reservations at Bell's. It is a quick walk down the street, and it boasts a one Michelin star rating for dining. Here is a link if you wanted to read about my visit:

The star of the show: the Japanese soaking tub

As I mentioned earlier, each suite is equipped with a Japanese-style soaking tub. This is not a jacuzzi, but it is a huge tub that is perfect to relaxing and soaking in. This is honestly all I need for a relaxing evening in.

One huge highlight of our stay was discovering all of the hidden doors in our suite.

This is the door to the bathroom and balcony!

One unique feature of this suite that not all of the rooms have is a private balcony space. Not only is this your own balcony space, but the Egyptian suite balcony was right in the front of the mansion itself. It was such a lovely space to enjoy a glass of wine as well as our breakfast.

When you are served breakfast, they ask you to specify what time you would like to have your food delivered. The morning-of, you are served breakfast through a secret door as well. Not only this, but the breakfast was beautiful and delicious.

If you plan on heading out this way anytime soon, I cannot recommend a stay at the Victorian Mansion, Los Alamos enough. In fact, I am already looking to book my next stay!
